AlgiHeal™

Overview

AlgiHeal™ is spun from natural alginate fibers of marine origin, purpose-built for wounds that drain moderately to heavily. On contact with wound fluid, an ion exchange converts the fibers into a soft calcium-sodium alginate gel that cushions the wound bed and lifts away cleanly at change. The released calcium ions lend natural support to clotting, while the gelled dressing preserves the moist environment healing tissue prefers.

Clinical Indications

Moderate to heavily draining wounds; pressure and diabetic ulcers; venous and arterial leg ulcers; post-surgical wounds; donor sites.

Considerations

Requires adequate exudate to gel — not for dry wounds, infected wounds without appropriate management, or wounds requiring surgical hemostasis.
